Throughout my career, I have always taken care and consideration to impart the knowledge and skills shared with my with those whom I have worked alongside.

In 2020, I was given the opportunity to formalise this pursuit, working for Volunteer it Yourself (VIY), a community interest company who use light construction works, of a public or community nature, as educational opportunities for vulnerable young adults in the trades. Starting as a mentor, I soon became a lead mentor for the organisation (on a freelance basis) planning and running job sites for them and their clients, and of course enhancing the educational experience for the young people involved.

Outside of this ongoing professional relationship, I remain an informal mentor for several younger colleagues, and have an active apprentice with whom frequently accompanies me on jobs.
