Angus has worked part time for Volunteer It Yourself for over a year, progressing from a
supporting teacher of construction skills on our project sites to leading projects from start to
completion.
During this time I have worked closely alongside Angus and witnessed some of his teaching first
hand. He possesses excellent communication skills, being able to teach a range of young
people aged 14-24. These people are from a variety of backgrounds and some have
behavioural or learning needs however all of them have received positive learning experiences.
Angus is also able to communicate well with clients and other project stakeholders, keeping
project managers well informed.
Aside from his high standard of teaching Angus presents well, is punctual and works hard to
ensure projects are completed to a good level and on time. His practical skills in carpentry and
knowledge of other trades help ensure this and mean that he’s an asset both as a teacher and a
tradesperson.

En la Casica de Perintín, nuestra casa rural en el Valle de Ricote (Región de
Murcia) realizó multitud de trabajos. Por ejemplo, el diseño de una mesa de
escritorio plegable de gran versatilidad y elegancia (incluidos los sistemas
metálicos de plegado, que también él puede fabricar), arreglo de multitud de
muebles de madera antiguos (ajustando patas y puertas, incorporando ruedas,
subsanando arañazos, encolando, eliminando defectos varios, etcétera) y
elaboración de pequeños muebles.
Angus también nos ayudó con el informe y las gestiones para que el seguro se
hiciera cargo del arreglo de una gran puerta metálica que había sido destrozada
por un tornado, y que dejó perfecta y pintada.
Angus es muy consciente de la calidad y la especialidad de sus conocimientos y
buen hacer, de manera que sus tarifas son siempre justas en relación a la
calidad y puntualidad de su trabajo; no regatee sus presupuestos y no se
arrepentirá!
Además, el taller móvil de Angus puede instalarse en cualquier lugar y es como
un pequeño museo de artesanía y resulta un placer verle trabajar y apreciar
cómo adora su trabajo y la profesionalidad con que lo realiza. Cuando Angus
termine su trabajo, dejará el espacio limpio y ordenado, como si nunca hubiera
habido allí un taller!

Angus recently transformed what was essentially a derelict brick shed by building a new roof and doors. He began by providing a very detailed breakdown of what the costs of materials and his time would be. He came on site for a week, worked incredibly hard and created what I can only describe as a work of art and love and skill.
I love it.

As our lead carpenter on several high profile set builds, Angus helped design and build some incredible installations against some difficult time and working challenges. The clients were thrilled, & all at The Shop were impressed with the skill and attention to detail within his work.
Angus and I now continue to work on other projects, and he has yet to disappoint.

I was lucky enough to have benefited from Angus’ expertise on my project at Clitterhouse farm where he helped with the carpentry in our community cafe.
Angus is clearly an experienced and skilled carpenter and is always willing to offer his advice and knowledge when required.
